"in Tolmezzo mail
by the Venetian Republic to the Republic Italian "
Pier Giuseppe Claudio Advanced Gottardis
one Thursday night at Bar Alba Tolmezzo, the seat of our Philatelic Club, talking to Claudio Gottardis, a friend for years for their common interests - historical philatelic, I suggested produce a book that made the public aware of its wonderful collection Documents on postal Tolmezzo. The idea
the wither to the point of becoming co - author and begin this exciting adventure. We rolled up our sleeves and, after we have documented with appropriate depth philatelic history, we meet weekly to write the chapters.
We took a cue from recurrence of 850 years of Tolmezzo name to give our contribution to the celebrations with this book and an exhibition of postal history, so as to obtain the sponsorship of Tolmezzo.
The book consists of 148 pages, accompanied by 220 postal documents and about 30 unpublished postcards of the city, with which we set out to create a historical-stamp can be enjoyed by everyone, not just by professionals. The idea was to follow the historical events by analyzing the postal documents, including their expression of the changes that have occurred.
It starts from the Venetian Republic, a period in which it was organized the first postal service in Tolmezzo structured, while in Carnia was left to private carters, to follow the path during various changes related to historical development and the many occupations that have followed over time to the first years of the Italian Republic.
Sul Collezionista (No. 12 of December 2008), official organ of Bolaffi, and Vaccari News appeared positive reviews on the book.
